5DollarFootballAPI Partners with Sports Data Campus

5DollarFootballAPI has partnered with Sports Data Campus to help students work with real football data as part of their studies. Read the partnership announcement on Sports Data Campus.

Through our Education Access programme, eligible students can use the API at no cost for the duration of an approved course, subject to programme terms and course eligibility. The partnership supports coursework, research and the development of practical football analytics projects.

From a dataset to a project

Working with an API gives students a way to collect structured data, repeat an analysis and update it as new matches are played. They can spend more time testing a question and explaining their findings, with less manual copying between websites and spreadsheets.

The API provides fixtures, results, live scores, standings, match events and statistics, alongside corners, cards and betting odds. The coverage, history and request limits available through Education Access depend on the course's agreed access.

Students might use that data to:

• Compare home and away performance across a season.
• Explore how goals, corners or cards vary between teams and competitions.
• Build a dashboard that follows live matches.
• Test a prediction model against historical results and market probabilities.

These are starting points for student work. The aim is to make it easier to build an analysis that someone else can understand and reproduce.

Getting access as a student

Access is arranged through the institution. Your lecturer or programme office provides a course code; you create a 5DollarFootballAPI account, enter the code on your profile and wait for the institution to approve your access.

Once approved, your existing API key works with Education Access for the course duration. The student guide explains the steps and includes Python examples and project ideas. Contact your programme office for your course's eligibility and access details.

Sharing what you build

We encourage students to publish their analysis, notebooks and applications. Public work should credit 5DollarFootballAPI and follow the Education Access publishing guidelines, including the distinction between sharing an analysis and redistributing the underlying data feed.
